Lillian Wald on Her
Seventieth Birthday

David Cooper, who is well
known in local Jewish circles, has
recently become 'initiated with
George T. Shupert & Co., invest-

nation-wide 'festivities in honor
of her 70th birthday, Miss Lil-
lian D. Wald, founder of the
Henry Street Settlement, pio-
neer in the visiting nursing
service and one of the nation's
most beloved women, remained
quietly home as President
Roosevelt, Governor Lehman
and Mayor La Guardia led the
nation in paying homage to her.
Over a national radio broadcast,
President Roosevelt acclaimed
Miss Wald as one who has
agent years in unselfish labor
to promote the happiness and
well-being of others. The Pres-
ident's mother also joined in ac
claiming Miss Wald. Governor
Lehman described her as "a
tremendous power for good in
our community," while the
mayor said she was • prophet
of a social era now being
established. In Harlem the city
dedicated a new health center
named for Miss Wald and also
presented her with its certi-
ficate of merit.

AT ROSENWALD POST'S
MEETING ON MARCH 24

Rabbi Leon Fram will he the
principal speaker at a meeting of
Rosenwald Post No. 210 of the
American Legion at 0 p. tn.. on
Wednesday, March 2.1, at the Bnai
Moshe Hall, 3710 Lawrence, cor-
ner Dexter.
The entertainment committee has
arranged an elaborate program
which will include a joint meeting
with the Denby and Union Labor
Poste. There will be entertainment
and refreshments,
Meyer Waterstone, commander
of the Rosenwald Post , has issued
an appeal to all Detroit Jewish
veterans to attend next Wednes-
day's meeting and to enlist as
members.
The anniversary dinner of the
Rosenwald Post will be held at
Hotel Webster Hall on April IR.
Attendance will he limited to 50
couples, and all reservations will
have to be in by Wednesday, April
