MT. SINAI HOSPITAL OF CLEVELAND

CONCLUDED FROM EDITORIAL PAGE

Hospital of Cleveland was broken
on Feb. 2, 1915. On March 29,
1916, Dr. George Cilia, announced
that he would contribute $25
yearly for a period of 20 years
for the maintenance of the medi-
cal library of the hoepital. On
Sept. 17, 1916, the hospital was
opened having a capacity of 155
beds.
At the present time, the capac-
ity of the hospital is 270 beds,
which includes 45 basinets. The
present value of lands, buildings
and equipment is $2,201,207.93.
There is a trust fund of 4100,000.
An out patient department is
operated daily on the same prem-
ises. In 1935, there were 83,000
outpatient visits. A nationally ac-
credited nurses training school is
maintained and is affiliated with
the Western Reserve University.
It is universally recognized that
the Mt. Sinai Hospital of Cleve-
land is well managed and renders

a high type of medical service.
The administrative department
and the medical staff have both
been carefully and efficiently or-
ganized and managed. In fact, the
great success enjoyed by this hos-
pital has largely been due to the
high caliber of the men on its
board of trustees and the freedom
from politics in ita appointments.
Some of those intimately con-
nected with this institution con-
sider that the Mt. Sinai Hospital
has been and is today a great edu-
cational force in the City of Cleve-
land, and that it represents a con-
tribution of the Jewish community
to the general community service.
It is unnecessary to add that the
Mt. Sinai Hospital is one of the
outstanding hospitals In the
United States, both in its scien-
tific attainments and in the prac-
tical medical care rendered to its
patients.
The population of Cleveland is
less than 1,000,000 and the Jewish
population is about 90,000.
