vited friends. Dr. S. E. Gould,
chairman of the Detroit Jewish
Physicians' Hospital Committee,
presided at the meeting.
Dr. Fishbein'a address dealt
primarily with the important
functions of a modern hospital
and emphasized the need for ade-
quate facilities, without which he
stated, such a hospital would lose
its purpose. He urged the De-
troit committee to plan on noth-
ing less than a 100-bed institution
if such a Jewish hospital is to
function efficiently and within the
scope of modern medicine. In
emphasizing this point, he said
that there are less hospitals in the
United States today than there
were 10 years ago because the
less efficient have been forced out
of existnce and because it has
become impossible to operate hos-
pitals at a profit.

the fundamental tenet of Jewish

two decades it has become one of
the great universities of the world.
Our task does not require the
same heroism. It is a compara-
tively simple one. During the past
two generations the Yeshiva has
been the fountainhead of tradi-

won for itself a place in Jewish

All that remains for us to do

American Jewish life. Thus can we
