will present five one-act plays.

Due to unforeseen difficulties
the lladassahs were unable to al-
low the group to present the
"Boor" as had been previously
scheduled.
The five plays in production at
the present time are: "The Knife"
with Evelyn Kay, Anne Raizin,
Stanford Sobel and Wallace
Freedman. This is under the di-
rectorship of Wilfred Katz. The
others are: "The Great Dark,"
"The Same Old Thing," "The
Boor," and "Escape to Hell." We
urge the public to attend, for
aside from being wholesomely en-
tertained, a grand surprise awaits
the audience.
The group is still in need of
young men from the ages of 19
to 24 who are interested in this
type of work. Information re-

a lecture on Jewish music by Dr.
Singer of Northwestern Univer-
sity of Evanston, Ill., illustrated
by Cantor Jacob II. Sonenklar,
tenor, Mrs. Abraham Cooper,
soprano, and Miss Sadie Cooper,
violinist.
Dr. Singer, in addition to being
professor and lecturer of Hebrew
liturgical music at Northwestern
University, is rabbi of Temple
Mizpah, Chicago. Ile was educated
in the public schools of Buffalo,
N. Y., Ilebrew Union College at
Cincinnati, John llopkins Univer-
sity, Peabody Conservatory of
Music and the University of
Nebraska. In addition to being
ordained rabbi, he was awarded
the Ph. D. degree. Ile has held
the chair in theory and history of
music at the University of Neb-
raska. Ile is the author of a num-
ber of articles on the history of
synagogue music published by the
National Music Teachers Associa-
tion and the C. C. A. R. Year
Book, he is the composer of a
number of hymns and choral
numbers published in the Union
Hymnal, as well as a Children's
Operetta.
Dr. Singer, who has appeared
a number of times in a similar
lecture in Chicago with Cantor
Sonenklar as illustrator, will be
presented together with Cantor
Sonenklar, Mrs. Cooper and Miss
Cooper in the social hall of Con-
gregation Shaarey Zedek, Lawton
and Chicago Blvd., at 8:30 p. m.

"Resolved that Anti-Semitism
Can be Eliminated" is the topic of
a debate arranged by the Men's
Club of Bnai Moshe Synagogue to
be held on Wednesday, Dec. 9, at
8:30 p. m., in the large auditorium
of the congregation, Lawrence
and Dexter.
Julius Deutelbaum will take the
affirmative side of the question,
with Samuel Sternberg opposing
him on the negative side. The de-
bate has aroused considerable in-
terest and a good attendance is an-
ticipated. The public is invited to
hear this important issue debated.
The evening will also be devoted
to Chanukah observance, with Can-
tor A. A. Rosenfeld in charge.
After the ceremony of blessing the
candles, Cantor Rosenfeld will
conduct community singing, fea-
turing old songs and new num-
bers. Nathan Mertenbaum, tenor
and Miss Cecelia Plotnick, pianist,
will participate in the vocal pro-
gram.
Refreshments will be served af-
ter the debate by the following
hostesses: Mesdames John Adler,
Joseph Brown, Sam Adler, Rose
Palkovitz, E. Abner, Max Matjas,
Al Feher, Bernard Grossberg and
Ethel Heiman.

A beautiful wedding was solem-
nized Sunday, Nov. 22,. at Lech-
ar's, when Miss Anne Strossky,
daughter of Sir. and Mrs. Aaron
Strossky, became the bride of
Nathan Steinbock, son of Mr. and
Mrs. J. Steinbock. Rabbi I. Stoll-
man and Rabbi N. Eager offici-
ated in the presence of a large
number of guests.
The bride was attired in a gown
of white satin with a long train.
She wore a tulle veil and cap
and her flowers were white roses
with white satin ribbon. Mrs.
Lawrence Schreidell, sister of the
bride, .,also a recent bride, was
matron of honor. She was gowned
in yellow chiffon and carried
yellow roses. The other attendants
were Miss Laura Lewis, in red
crepe; Mrs. Harold Weisbrott in
grey polka dot satin, and Mrs.
Irving Stern, in royal blue crepe.
The bridesmaids all carried roses
tied in satin ribbon to match their
gowns.
Sans Zelivansky performed the
duties of best man. The ushers
were, Leonard Levy, Harold
Weissbrott and Irving Stern.
A dinner for 130 guests fol-
lowed the ceremony.

wool suit a rust blouse and green
accessories, and a corsage of gar-
denias.
