chief task was making friends
and contacts. A cheerful, zest-
ful personality, an energetic,
resolute and ambitious nature
and a shrewd talent for biding
his time and capitalizing on all

the most of them. British pol-
iticians are always on the alert
for promising young men, and
in Hore-Belisha the fast-declin-

clever and talented figure. In
1929 he was a member of the
inner circle of young Liberals,
but the impending demise of
his party boded ill for his poli-

and the establishment of the
coalition government. What
was left of the Liberal Party
split on this issue, and Hore-

faction led by Sir John Simon.
As a reward he was named

Board of Trade, a post equiva-

Decline of N•si Film Export
At the office of the Joint Boy-
cott Council of the American
Jewish Congress and the Jewish
Labor Committee, a report was
released concerning the decline
in the German motion picture in-
dustry. The facts which were
culled from official German sta-
tistics are irrefutable evidence Of
the efficient boycott that has been
carried on everywhere against
Nazi goods and services.
The report in part brings to
light the following facts: In 1932-
33, the export of films yielded
40 per cent of the production
costs. During 1933-34, there was
a marked decline to 18 per cent.
In 1934-35, the yield was 12 per
cent and in all probability is at
this level or lower today. The
investigation further shows that
more than 60 per cent of the films
produced can find no outlet what-
soever in the export market.
Those films which are exported
realize very little from these for-
eign sales and returns are acts.
aPy negligible insofar as cost of
production is concerned.
The report substantiates fully
the findings of Dr. Joseph Tenen-
baum, chairman of the Joint Boy-
cott Council, who in his recent
brochure "Three Years Anti-Nazi
Boycott" pointed out that "every
month brings the economic col-
lapse of Germany nearer."

over the city, so that Jewish children, no matter where
they live, may conveniently attend Hebrew School classes.
The main building of the schools is, located at Philadel-

year course and which is divided into junior and senior
courses.
In addition to these regular courses there are also
special classes, such as Bar-Mitzvah classes for children
of the age of 12 and upward, post-graduate classes for the
high school students and classes in Talmud and Mishnah.
Sessions are held daily, on week days between the
hours of 4 and 8:30 p. m. The duration of each session is
one hour and a half, so that the first session commences
at 4, the second at 5:30, the third at 7. Sunday morning
classes meet at 9:30.
Saturday morning services are held for children of all
ages. These services are conducted by the children them-
selves, under the supervision of the members of the staff.
