The real estate tax and the sales tax ere the chief revenues,
invectively, for local and state government in Michigan. Pro-
pene Three and Four of the cute constitution amendments
to be voted upon November 3 would destroy or cripple these
revenues. Proposal Three would exempt the sales tax on cer-
tain foods and thus take away at least $12,000,000 of state
school aid, old age pensions, and welfare funds. Proposal
Four would exempt reel and personal property from almost
all taxation and thus wipe out nearly all revenues for fond
support of government and aclocds, ■ low of approximately
