Prominent Speakers Scheduled to
Coyne Here This Year

The Men's Club of Congrega-
tion Shaarey Zedek announces an
interesting program of events for
the current year, which will in-
clude a number of nationally
prominent speakers who will die-
cuss humor, the folk song, eco-
nomics, history, art, music and
the drama.
The first of these will be pre-
sented at the next meeting, Mon-
day evening, Oct. 12, when Rabbi
Louis Feinberg of Cincinnati,
Ohio, recognized authority on
Jewish humor and the origin of
the folk song, will give his lec-
ture on "The Origin and Develop-
ment of Jewish Humor."
Other special presentations will
be:
Noah Nachbuch, founder of the
famous Vilna Art Troupe, will
present a program of humorous
and serious music and dramatic
aketches in costume, using ma-
terial from classical Yiddish writ-
ers.
Rabbi Philip S. Bernstein, writ-
er, traveller and rabbi, will speak
on "The Jews in Russia and Ger-
many."
Herman J. Rosenthal will give
a piano lecture recital on "Folk
Songs of Many Lands," a subject
on which he is a recognized au-
thority.
Dr. Salo Baron, professor of
Jewish history at Columbia Uni-
versity, will discuss "Nationalism
And Intolerance."
Cantor Moshe Nathanson,
tenor and known as "The Voice
of Jerusalem on the radio, will
present a recital of "Modern Pal-

kah Juniors.
Continuing the party-a-month
policy, the Zedakah Juniors will
hold a liallowken scavenger
hunt on Oct. 31, for members and
escorts only.
Installation
of officers will
take place soon at Stotler Hotel,
and will be open to the public. At
the end of October the club will
open its membership to a select
few,
Zedakah Juniors are planning
a dance and a series of guest
speakers at future meetings.

Soccer Game

The United Hebrew Schools are
taking an active part in the sale
of tickets for the Maccabee soc-
cer game.
Tickets are on sale at all the
branches of the United Hebrew
Schools. There will be half price
for students.

Hebrew Schools, Carl Schiller of

The Eastern Canadian Confer-
ence of B'nai B'rith will be held
in Windsor on Sunday and Not -
day, Oct. 11 and 12.
A banquet in honor of the dele-
gates will be held on Sunday
evening, Oct. 11, in the Prince
Albert Hotel ballroom. A dance
will follow the dinner and pro-
gram. Dress will be optional. The
banquet will mark the initiation
of the new Chatham branch of
Windsor I.odge, with the degree
team of Pisgah Lodge of Detroit
conducting the ritual. In addition
to the banquet, the delegates will
be taken on a sightseeing tour
through Detroit.
The public is invited, and tickets
may be secured through Her-
man Osnos, president of Pisgah
Lodge. Harry Cherniak, chairman
of the convention committee,
states that delegates from 17
states have indicated their inten-
tion to attend the convention.

The Ladies' Auxiliary of the
House of Shelter will hold the first
regular meeting of the season Mon-
day, Oct. 6, at 1 p. m., at the
Jewish Center.
A board meeting was held Tues-
