Hyman Altman Says
That Michigan Needs
Murphy as Governor
In his weekly message last Sun-
day, Ilyman Altman, conductor of
Altman's Jewish Radio Hour, spoke
of the Michigan gubernatorial sit-
uation and told his audience that
he had it upon good authority that
Frank Murphy would run for gov-
ernor and would shortly announce
his candidacy.
"What • wonderful thing for the
State of Michigan and its people
if we had at its head is„man like
my good friend, Flank Mni;phy,"
stated Mr. Altman. "Nd other
man in public office can show a
record as enviable or an worthy as
that of this great man whom I am
proud to call my friend and your
friend. lie stands far above the
others in character, integrity and
sincerity. He has demonstrated his
courage and honesty again and
again during his public career,
first as an assietent district at-
torney, then as Judge of the Re-
corder's court, Mayor of Detroit
and Governor General of the
Phillipines. In the latter office
he achieved the enviable distinction
of having given the Phillipines the
finest administration they have
ever had. If he decides to run for
Governor of Michigan it will be
their loss and our gain. '"I could
go on talking about Frank Murphy
for hours and hours but I prefer
to wait until he himself announces
his candidacy and then I will tell
you more about this wonderful
man But 1 do want to leave this
one thought with you. When
Frank Murphy was udge of the
Recorder's court, and then as
mayor of Detroit he demonstrated
his friendship for the Jewish people
and all the minority peoples. I
will acquaint you with his humane-
nee sand his friendliness from time
to time. But remember that Mich-
igan needs Frank Murphy for gov-
ernor."
Writes Walter Winchell: "It
may be coincidence, but most of
