Iraq, working with T. E. Lawr-
ence, who appeared before the
Council of the Conference to sub-
mit the claims for Arab inde-
pendence and a national exis-
tence. These claims, Dr. Weiz-
mann states, found agreement
among the Zionists represented at
Paris, of whom he was one.
Dr. Weizmann met Emir Feisal
at Amman, Transjordan, in June
1918, and on many subsequent
occasions, together with Lawr-
ence, discussed Zionism. These
meetings led to a lasting friend-
ship between Feisal and himself.
When Feisal came to Europe in
1919 the Zionist plans were sub-
mitted to him; and both the Emir
and Lawrence approved them, Dr.
Weizmanan states. Early in 1919
these conversations culminated in
a treaty of friendship, the full
text of which consisted of seven
articles, which is given facsimilie
reproduction in the Times. In
