A LOVELY GIFT AS A GIFT OF LOVE

Chevrolet Sales for April
and First Four Months
of 1936

Chevrolet dealers' car and truck
sales in April totalled 134,431
units, setting a new all-time high
mark for any single month in the
company's history, W. E. Holler,
vice president and general sales
manager of the Chevrolet Motor
Co., announced, Sales for the year
to May 1, totaling 406,620, set a
new all-time record for the first
four months of a year.
The achievement followed close
on a record-breaking March, which
until April figures were in, stood
as the greatest single month Chev-
rolet ever experienced.
April sales represent an increase
of nearly 35 per cent over sales in
April, 1935, which totalled 99,811.
The first four months' sales were
an increase of 48 per cent over
those of 1935, which were 274,121.
Sales of used cars in April
totalled 197,270, Mr. Holler re-
ported, producing a total of 679,-
104 used car sales for the first four
months. Both these figures repre-
sent new all time highs. The great-
est previous single used-car month
in the company's history was
March 1930, when 174,642 units
were sold, and the greatest corres-
ponding four-months' period was in
1930, when sales totalled 456,638.
All phases of the dealers' busi-
ness shared in the increase," Mr.
Holler said. "Whether considered
from the standpoint of total unit
sales, of truck sales, or of used car
sales, April set a brand New mark.
Heavy volume of used car business
contributed to the new car results
by keeping dealers' inventories ad-
vantageously low."

Greatly Expanded Market Is
Seen for Oldsmobile

Newspapers of the nation have
been selected as the principal
medium to carry an extensive
Oldsmoble advertising campaign,
now under way, it was announced
by V. C. Havens Cldsmobile ad-
vertising manager.
We are convinced that the
message of Oldsmobile's high qual-
ity and outstanding value can best
be told by the use of newspapers,"
said Mr. Havens. "Expanded pro-
duction facilities in 1936 have
made possible the manufacture of
more Oldsmobiles this year than
were ever before built in a 12-
month period.
The lower prices of the 1936
Oldsmobile Six and Eight, togeth-
er with the increasing popularity
of the cars, and the fine records
they are making in the hands of
owners, point to the existence of
a greatly expanded market for
Oldsmobile again this year.
"So we have launched a news-
paper campaign, not only in the
large metropolitan dailies, but
likewise in smaller dailies and in
weeklies, to carry the story of
Oldsmobile's style, safety, com-
fort, economy and performance to
millions of American newspaper
readers.
"More than 3300 newspapers
are being used, and the expendi-
ture of a much larger sum than
ever before has been spend by
Oldsmobile in any singe year in
newspapers has been authorized."
