Siegl on Hungarian
Hour Sunday

will be heard next Sunday over
station WJBK at 5:30 p. m., pre-
senting Henry Siegl, noted violin-
ist, and Gizi Szanto, concert pian-
ist, in a program of Hungarian

will be Louis J. Zuieback, presi-
dent of the Delray Businessman's
Associations.
This program is under the di-
rection of Ernest Palos, puklisher

Dr. Janies G. Heller of Cincin-
nati, in a stirring address delivered
at the fifth annual donor luncheon
of the Ladies' Auxiliary of the
Jewish Natiqiiiil Fund, at the Book
Cadillac Hotd1, on Tuesday, warned
that unless Jews redouble their
efforts, redeem immense tracts of
land in Palestine through the Jew-
ish National Fund and make it
possible for at least 60,000 to
70,000 Jews to enter Palestine
every year, the work accomplished
thus far may be imperiled by an
impending war.
Painting a gloomy picture of
existing conditions in Europe, Dr.
Heller declared that a war would
threaten the destruction of what
has been built until now. Ile
pointed to the experiences in Pal-
estine during the last war as in-
dicating that only with the guar-
antee of additional forces of Jews
who are to be settled in Palestine,
and with the redemption of land
which can not be resold, will the
position of the Jews be made
secure.
Speaking on "Zionism and the
World Crisis," Dr. Heller said that
Europe is on the verge of another
catastrophe and that it Is only a
question of when that will take
place or what incident will bring it
about.
Declaring that the present hour
demands immediate action and
sacrifices for Palestine on behalf
of the Jewish people, Dr. !feller
criticized the Zionists for working
slowly, as if they had centuries
ahead of them. He declared that
unless advantage is taken of op-
portunities in the next four years,
there is danger ahead. He urged
the National Fund workers to re-
double their efforts and declared it
the duty of Jews everywhere to
help make Palestine self-sustain-
ing and to rebuild the land speed-
ily,
"Give us three more years, and
we will be able to arrive at the
Zionist objective," he declared.
"We must redouble our efforts, we
must labor with feverish intensity.
I beseech you to make this only
a beginning of greater work, for
the sake of the Yishuv, for the

sake of the preservation of our
dream and ideal, so that we should
not be lost in the welter of world
calamity."
Mrs. Philip Slomovitz, chairman
of the donor luncheon committee,
presided at the annual event which
was attended by more than 500
women. A brief address was del-
ivered by Mrs. Samuel N. Hey-
man, president of the Jewish Na-
tional Fund Auxiliary, and brief
remarks were delivered by Rabbi
Joshua S. Sperka, chairman of the
Detroit Jewish National Fund
Council, when he accepted the
check of the luncheon proceeds,
presented him by Mrs. Slomovitz.
The musical program consisted
of vocal selections by Emma Laza-
roil' Scheyer, accompanied by Re-
becca Katzman Frohman, and vio-
lin selections by Ida Divinoff Roth-
berg, accompanied by Ilenry Her-
man.
A telegram commending the
group for its work was received
from Dr. Israel Goldstein, national
president of the Jewish National
Fund of America, who conveyed
to the ladies the greetings of
alenachem Ussishkin of Jerusalem,
international president of the Na-
tional Fund.
Other greetings were received
from Home Relief Society, Zedakah
Club, Jewish Old Folks' Home
Auxiliary, Eva Prenzlauer Mater-
nity Aid, Mrs. A. D, Markson and
Mrs. Dina Milkovsky Kaplan.
The invocation was given by
Mrs. Max Hayman.
It was announced at the lunch-
eon that Mrs. Max Hayman and
Mrs. A. Smilo were honored with
life memberships in the Ladies
Auxiliary of the Jewish National
Fund for securing 50 donors each
for the luncheon.
