Tamar, whose adventures make
"The Golden Horseshoe" by Eliza-
beth Coatsworth (Macmillan, $2.)

This is a story of colonial Vir-
ginia. Against the wishes of Gen.
eral Spotswood's party, Tamar,
disguised as an Indian boy, fol-
lows an expedition which includes
her halfbrother Roger. The latter
does not like Tamar because she
has Indian blood in her veins. But
her spunk soon causes him to ad-
mire and respect her and her In-
dian folk.
Tamar saves the expedition by
advising the party to take horse-
shoes for the mountain climb and
through other advice. For these
services she earns the governor's
gift of the golden horseshoe,

to Hank Greenberg, first base-
man of the world champion De-
troit Tigers when he received the
"player of the year" plaque from

Baseball Writers of America at

The company has a very large
amount of business in force in
Michigan and the Detroit branch
under the leadership of Ernest W.
Owen ranked fourth In the com-
pany's agencies.
In the group insurance field the
increase has been most marked
showing a gain of 23 per cent. In
Michigan the gain over 1934 was
68.7 per cent.
