Mrs. Zhidlowsky, a representa- tive of the Moatzoth Ilapoaloth, has lived in Palestine for the past 23 years, ever since she was 17 years of age. Coming to Palestine during the second immigration wave, the young girl found little or no place for women In the Pal- estine of that day. She was one of the first to realize the need for specialized farm training for her sex and she was one of the pio- neers in a co-operative girls' farm school at Kinnereth. Since then, site has played a leading part in the establishment of two year farm training courses for women in Je- rusalem, Tel Aviv, Chedera, Afule and Petach Tivkah, all of which schools are supported by the Pio- neer Women's Organization of America. For the past 11 years, Mrs. Zhidlowsky has been a member of the Kinnereth Cooperative, a farm colony for men and women. She has been in charge of the vege- table garden. Because of her close association with farming, the visitor believes that the founda- tion of a permanent Palestine prosperity must be the soil. The mother of two girls, aged 8 and 12 years, Mrs. Zhidlowsky is a very plain woman, what we have come to visualize as the typical chalutza. Youthful and vigorous, she isn't young in the American manner. There are no frills about her. She is serious, austere, peasant-like. In appear- ance, she resembles the Americad Indian what with her high cheek- bones and her Jet black hair, part- ed in the center and sleeked down over the ears without the slightest suggestion of a wave to lessen its severity. Believing that the future of • really prosperous Palestine must be in the soil, Mrs. Zhidlowsky lives what she preaches. She is • member of the Kinnereth Cooper- ative, a farm colony for men and women, where she holds the very responsible position of supervisor of the vegetable garden.
