I shall not attempt to discuss
the political, economic or general
social changes due to National
Socialism. Rather I wish to di-

of the Jews and of the Church,
both Catholic and Protestant.
I have been to Germany every
year for the last eight years and
well recall what I was told by
Nazis with respect to the Jews
before the party came to power.
Only certain classes of Jews would
be affected, mainly Eastern Jews
who had, they said, come to places
of excessive influence. All the

letter of resignation of James G.

Anyone who takes the trouble
to read his brief summary of dis-
criminatory legislation as applied
to non-Aryans will discover that
they are now excluded from gov-

educational and cultural fields,
and increasingly from industry,
agriculture and commerce. To

incredibly cruel laws, "Only a per-

Nazis Confiscate
Passport,' of Jews

BERLIN.—(WNS) — Yank-
ing the noose tighter around
the neck of German Jewry, the
police in Munich and Berlin
have undertaken an organized
drive to deprive Jews of their
passports. Going from house to
house, the police are confiscat-
ing the travelling papers of all
Jews and marking them "in.
valid for foreign countries."
The object of this is to prevent
the Jews from leaving the court-
try before their property and
capital have been confiscated.

NEW YORK.—Upon their ar-
rival in New York on Tuesday, the
delegation from England, consist-
ing of Sir Herbert Samuel, Vis-
count Bearsted and Simon Marks,
reiterated previous assurance that
there is nothing in their proposed
plan for the exodus of German
Jews that involves • a transfer
agreement which would tend to
break the boycott of Nazi goods.
The delegation stated that no
Jews had dealings with Nazis
which would tend to break the
boycott, and they were emphatic
in declaring that they did not
come here with advance plans but
hoped to have a definite program
arranged here for the removal of
the Jews from Germany.
Felix M. Warburg, representing
the Joint Distribution Committee,
and Morris Rothenberg, president
of the Zionist Organization of
America, headed the reception
committee which greeted the
delegates.
A fourth visitor who arrived
here on Tuesday together with
the three English emissaries is
David Lvovitch, vice-president of
the World ORT Union, who now
resides in Paris and who has come
to this country in behalf of the
$500,000 American ORT Cam-
paign of which David A. Brown is
national chairman.

A modern Jewish Old Folks' Home will be a reality before the
year is over, it was indicated this week when definite action was
taken to select a site and to prepare plans for the new building.
The Conference of Jewish Organizations, at a meeting held
Sunday afternoon at Hotel Statler, ratified an earlier decision of
the board of directors of the Jewish Old Folks' Home which unani-
mously provided for the selection of the site owned without en-
cumbrances by the Old Folks' Home on Davison and Lawton.
