early in January they will publish
Dr. Mordecai E. Kaplan's book,
"Judaism in Transition." It is his
thesis that the devastation wrought
by modernism upon the traditions
and collective life of the Jews has
gradually made that people trans- 1
form themselves to meet the re-
quirements of the world in the
making. This is effecting radical
changes in the traditional pattern
of ideas and in the social structure
of the Jews. These changes con-
stitute the transition through which
Judaism is passing. What must
Judaism do to negotiate this transi-
tion successfully? is the question
which Dr. Kaplan answers in his
book. He is the author of "Judaism
as a Civilization" which was pub-
lished by Macmillan last year.

annual convention of Hadassah,
the women's Zionist organization
of America, which held its four-
day sessions here, paid special
tribute to Mrs. Dora Ehrlich, of
Detroit, former president of the
Detroit chapter and one of the
leaders of Hadassah in this
country.
A resolution was passed con-
gratulating Mr. and Mrs. Ehrlich
on their recent silver wedding an-
niversary. The resolution read:
"Whereas, Since the last con-
vention of Hadassah its staunch
and devoted worker and leader,
Mrs. Joseph 11. Ehrlich, has cele-
brated in joy her silver wedding,
and
"Whereas, Throughout the life
of Iladassah Mrs. Ehrlich and her
husband have given of themselves
