of the Detroit Auxiliary of the
Los Angeles Sanatorium will be
opened officially by a representa-
tive of the Mayor's office, at the
B'nai Moshe Center, Dexter and
Lawrence, this Saturday, Dec. 7,
at 7 p. m,
A concert by the orchestra of
the Northwestern High School,
with Louis Greenblatt, tenor, as
soloist, will be one of the features
of the opening program. Another
feature is the playing of Jewish
melodies by a large union orches-
tra. Admission to the opening,
as well as every day and evening
of the bazaar, which will con-
tinue until Sunday evening, Dec.
15, is free.
Approximately 100 organiza-
tions have accepted the invitation
of the Detroit Auxiliary to conic
en moose to this event. There is
still time for the others to join
the parade of organizations. All
that is necessary is to call Madi-
son 6766, and reservations will
be made.
Particular attention is called to
the Sunday chicken dinners at the
bazaar restaurant for low prices.
The orchestra will play, so that
the public may dine and dance on
Sunday from 2 to 6 p. m.
The Los Angeles Sanatorium,
which has for almost a quarter of
a century served American Jewry
by providing for its indigent vic-
tims of tuberculosis, has three in-
stitutions under its control, the
sanatorium, the ex-patients home,
and the children's clinic, recently
erected by the Women's Auxiliary
of the B'nai B'rith, where every
effort is made to prevent tuber-
culosis among children. The gates
of the institution have been, and
are being kept open to Detroit pa-
tients. One of the Detroit pa-
tients, a father of four children,
was admitted three weeks ago.
There are three applicants wait-
ing, among them a young woman
in the Leland Sanatorium, who has
been there for the last six years.
This case has been referred to
the Auxiliary by the Jewish Wel-
fare Federation, and a letter has
been sent by the superintendent
of the sanatorium in which he
strongly recommends that this pa-
tient be sent to the Los Angeles
Sanatorium because of climatic
conditions.
