OPENING

TONIGHT

STAGE AN D SCREEN

That theatergoers in Detroit
and the adjacent country are hun-
gry for good plays with distin-
guished and popular stars is
strongly evinced by the keen in-
terest shown in the recent an-
nouncement that Ethel Barrymore,
one of the most beloved actresses
on the English-speaking stage, is
coming to the Cass Theater for
one week beginning Monday, Dec.
16. Such interest has been made
evident by the large number of
mail orders, many of which are
from far-off points in this state.
Miss Barrymore will be presented
by S. E. Cochran, in the outstand-
ing comedy success "The Con-
stant Wife," by W. Somerset
Maugham. This is a brilliant and
sophisticated English drawing-
room sort of comedy, sparkling
with witty sallies, thronged with
comedy situations, just such a
play and role the countless ad-
mirers of Miss Barrymore love to
see her enact. For this tour an
excellent supporting cast has been
selected including such players as
.1. W. Austin, Adelaide Hibbard,
Cynthia Latham, Lynn Kendall,
Jean Arden, Reginald Malcolm,
Frank Greene and Robert Noble.
