Edith Lorand Here
Tuesday, Nov. 12
Edith Lorand, famous violinist-
conductor, and her Hungarian or-
chestra, will appear in Orchestra
Hall on Tuesday evening, Nov. 12,
under the auspices of the Detroit
Concert Society, of which Isobel J.
Hurst is manager.
A remarkable feature of the
concerts of Edith Lorand and her
orchestra of 15 men players, all of
solo calibre, is that they perform
their programs entirely without
scores. She has established the al-
most incredible record of having
made with her orchestra more than
2,000 phonograph records, some of
which have had a sale of more than
a million each. This fact testifies to
the demand that has been created
to hear this great artist. In addi-
tion to her orchestral records she
has made a large number as solo
violinist and in the Edith Lorand
Trio has had the collaboration of
such distinguished artists as Piati-
gorsky and Michael Raucheiaen.
