Travel the length and breadth
of Palestine — through its agri-
cultural colonies and its urban
centers. You are at once im-
pressed with the unexplored tal-
ents of our people. After two
thousand years of unhappy wan-
dering, we find them equal to the
task of adapting themselves ade-
quately to agricultural pursuits,
rebuilding the barren hills and
disease - infested marshes into
green pastures and wooded areas.
Remarkable as may be this
spectacle of Jewish enterprise, it
also has its drawbacks. For only
some six per cent of the total
land area of Palestine is Jewish
owned. And the immediate needs
for colonization are so tremen-
dous that what has already been
accomplished almost pales into
significance.
