CHICAGO.-Well, I'm still be-

I get here about things way back
home. It sort of wafts over to
me on the breeze, or something.
I hear that at the Oriole Ter-

once again. Remember, the ban::

they du say 'round these heyah

such charming and intricate num-
bers, and there are Donna and Dar-
rell, society's glorified (lancers and,
believe me, they're a couple of
steppers, swell lookers, swell kids
and hard workers; then there is
Helen Doyle, song stylist, who has
just completed a 32-week run at
the Hollywood Restaurant in New
York. The Oriole also boasts De-
troit's only outdoor garden and,
with some fine weather overdue,
methinks it's the "spot" of the
town.

Polish Jews Launch
Own Relief Campaign

ASBUR Y PARK, N. J.-
(WNS) - A separate nation-
wide drive to raise funds for
the relief of Polish Jewry was
authorized by the 27th annual
convention of the Federation of
Polish Jews of America. The
incoming administrative com-
mitte was given power to make
plans for the drive and to set
a date and the quota. The con-
vention also urged the creation
of a world federation of Polish-
Jewish bodies and the conven-
ing of a world conference as soon
as possible. Resolutions mourn-
ing the death of Marshal Pil-
sudski, calling upon Polish-
Jewish landsmanschaften to or-
ganize local relief drives for
their townsmen in Poland,
praising the co-operation of the
Polish consuls in New York,
Chicago and Ottawa, and pro-,
testing against anti - Semitic
violence in Vilna and the re-
cent riots in Grodno and Su-
walki were adopted. Benjamin!
Winter was re-elected presi-
dent as were the following oth-
er officers: Jacob Brown, vice-
president; Abraham I. Handel,
treasurer; and Z. Tygel, execu-
tive secretary.

Devises Method for Heart
Disease Teat

ATLANTIC, CITY, (WNS) -
The existence of conditions of
heart disease before they can be
detected by other means, thus
enabling measures to be taken to
forestall a possibly fatal heart
attack can be disclosed by a new
photographic technique developed
by Dr. Albert S. Hyman and his
associates in the Within Founda-
tion for the Study and Preven-
tion of Heart Disease at Beth
David Hospital in New York, it
was reported to the joint meet-
ing of the American and Can-
adian Medical Associations. Dr.
Hyman's method consists of
photographs taken in pitch dark-
ness by "black rays" which pene-
trate a quarte rof an inch below
the skin and photograph the blood
vessels near the surface.
The meeting was also told of
the development of a "suicide
preventor", a method of check-
ing the fatal effects of bichloride
of mercury devised by Dr. San-
ford M. Rosenthal of the National
Institute of Health in Washing-
ton.
