JERUSALEM (WNS.Palcor
Agency) — If the Jews refuse
to co-operate, it will be impos-
sible for Sir Arthur Wauchope,
High Commissioner of Pales-
tine, to establish a Legislative
Council in the country, accord-
ing to the Meraat el Shark,
Christian Arab paper, which
declares that there will soon
be half a million Jews in Pal-
estine, enough to hinder the
entire plan. It had recently
been reported that Sir Arthur
had planned to publish in the
Fall the ordinance launching
the Legislative Assembly. The
Arab daily expresses doubt
whether the Palestine Govern-
ment will find it possible to
carry out the program if the
Jewish population boycotts it.
With the Jews in the country
soon numbering half a million,
the paper declares, they will be
able to paralyze any consti-
tutional scheme with which
they will not co-operate.
