WPTON AVENUE • CINCINNATI 20, OHIO MEI)ErRorrlaisn gilt0.741CLE PAGE FIVE and THE L CAL CHRONICLE Halevy in Music Festival May 28 A,4 On Tuesday evening, May 28, the Jews of Detroit and Michigan will be represented among the na- tions of the world in the Inter- national Music Festival by the De- troit Ilalevy Singing Society. The Ilalevy will sing the Oratorio "Dos Naie Lid" which won favor at its first performance last month. Emma Lazaroff-Schaver will again sing the soprano solo, with Rebecca Katzman-Frohman and Celia Plotnick acompanying the choir. Dan Frohman will con- duct. The Ilalevy is the only Jewish body to participate in this event. The International Music Festival is having its second official season in Detroit, its first one having been when the Halevy and Mme. Scheyer participated. The idea for music festivals originated in the East and has been carried out so successfully there for many years that finally music lovers in Detroit have undertaken to fur- nish this city with 10 days of tine and varied music. The Festival will be held in the Naval Armory and in Seyburn Place, on East Jefferson. HADASSAH WILL HEAR MRS.
