Statler this Sunday evening, May 5, on the occasion of the official opening of the Allied
Jewish Campaign for a quota of $270,000. •
The scene set for the inauguration of this important community fund - raising effort
will be marked by an unusual arrangement whereby outstanding members of ten of the
leading communities in this country will speak from their homes over a specially arranged
telephone broadcasting system in behalf of the 29 causes included in the drive. The list
of ten speakers who will address the dinner from various parts of the country will not be
made public until Sunday evening.

TO THE JEWS OF DETROIT:
F
Z. 0, A., HADASSAH
UNITED ON SLATE
This seems to be the crucial year
for our Detroit Jewish community. We shall find
out whether we are interested in fact in our
coreligionists and brothers in the benighted
parts of Europe. Do we care about the new life
in Palestine and the Hebrew University? Is the
enthusiasm for a new home for the aged hysteria
or genuine? Can our various groups work together
even if they do not accept every item of each
program? Is Detroit willing to carry its share
of the established national institutions to which
it has contributed in the past? Are we willing
to keep open our Hebrew Schools, even if on a
pitiably reduced basis?
FATHER COUGHLIN
AND THE RABBIS
There are signs that we will receive
a favorable answer. If our contributions of last
year are raised from $140,000 to $170,000 and if
in addition we receive $100,000 for the Old Folks'
Home, the program can go over and we will again
have the satisfaction of having done a job decently,
helping where help is needed, and welding together
a community which can progress.
Won't you do your share?
Sin erely yours,
