Zedakah Luncheon PAROLE OFFICER

Zedekah Club's plans for the an-
nual donor luncheon to be held
Feb. 27, are nearing completion.
Mrs. David M. Zellman, chair-
man of theprogram for the lunch-
eon, announces that Dr. Abram
Leon Sachar, national director of
B'nai B'rith Hillel Foundations,
will be the speaker. Wynn Wright
will direct a play entitled "Man on
the Curb," and it will be enacted
by Mrs. Wynn Wright and B. D.
Welling.
The second pep rally preceding
the donor luncheon, will be held
Feb. 5, at Hotel Book Cadillac at
12:30 at which time a luncheon will
be served and a program is being
planned by Mrs. S. K. Slobin. All
are invited to attend.
Those who have not already
made reservations for Zedakah's
birthday dinner dance to be held
at Northwood Inn, Jan. 27, are
asked to call Mrs. M. Davis, Gar-

Re-Elects Adler

Wednesday evening, Jan. 16, in
the social hall of the Beth Abraham
Synagogue, Linwood at Sturtevant,
the First Galician Society held a
dinner and dancing party for mem-
bers, the special feature of the eve-
ning being the installation of of-
ficers for the ensuing year, as fol-
lows: Irving E. Adler, president;
Samuel Reiner, vice president; Ed-
win Rothenberg, recording secreta-
ry; M. Stecher, financial secretary;
Rubin Teicher, treasurer; Benja-
min Genser, sergeant-at-arms; J.
Mohr, inner guard. The installation
ceremonies were in charge of Judge
Sanders. Rabbi Ilarold N. Rosen-
the!, the guest speaker of the eve-
ning, addressed the society on the
importance of organization in fur-
thering Jewish activities.
Lodgeroom desks were presented
to the president and vice president
by Morris Sperber, member of the
executive board, and rings were
presented to J. Reifler and M. In-
dialler, retiring vice president and
treasurer, respectively, expressing
the appreciation of the society for
their valuable services.
The First Galician Society is now
entering the fifth year of its se-
tivities.

Sperka to Speak on
"Racial Realities"

"Racial Realities" is the title of
the address to be delivered by Rab-
bi Joshua Sperka at the gathering
on Friday, Feb. 1, at 8:30 p. m. at
Congregation B'nai David, Elm-
hurst and 14th.
The guest organization of the
evening will be Pisgah lodge of the
B'naI B'rith, whose president, Har-
ry Yudkoff, will present their
cause to the audience. Israel
Hertz of Ilalevy Hazomir Singing
Society will be the soloist of the
evening. Mrs. Rose Avison will
lead the community singing in the
social hour and William Ilordes
will present a dramatic reading
from Yiddish literature.
The Central Methodist Church
of Grand Circus Park, Detroit,
`which this year had a travelling
seminar studying the constituent
elements in Detroit, will on this
evening be present at the B'nai
David Congregation, having in-
vited Rabbi Joshua Sperka to
'Teak on the Jewish contributions
to civilization under the title "The
Jew In Human History." Alvin D.
Hirsch will participate in the same
program, outlining the liberal
movements in Jewish history. This
seminar will meet at 7:30 in the
synagogue meeting rooms and is
closed to the public.

NOVOG WILL LECTURE
ON MAIMONIDES WORKS

The Chug Ivri of the Kvutzah
has completed arrangements for a
series of lectures on Maimonides.
Rabbi I. Novog, a Talmudic schol-
ar of note, who has made a special
study of the works of the RA barn,
will be the lecturer. The first of
the series will be given Saturday
evening, Jan. 2G, at the Philadel-
phia-Byron School, These lectures
will be given in Ilebrew, and are
open to the public.

Kurt Peiser, executive di-
rector of the Jewish Welfare
Federation of Detroit. this
week informed The Detroit
Jewish Chronicle that he is
seeking ■ place for • German•
Jewish refugee either as • gov-

refugee is now in Detroit and
that she speaks English. in ad-
