The Jewish Master Bakers' As-
sociation, at a special meeting
held on Thursday evening at As-
sembly Hall, decided to close the
doors of 22 baker shops in
Detroit on Saturday, Dec. 16, out
of sympathy to the parents of
Harry Haftka, who was brutally
murdered Wednesday evening.
The stores will reopen again on
Sunday :Horning.
Young Haftka, together with
his father, Joseph, and an uncle
Jacob Cooperberg, were stopped
while driving on Delmar Ave., to
pick up a baker who works in
Mr. Ilaftka's bakery, which is an
open shop. When young Haftka
who was driving, stepped out of
the car, he was ordered to throw
up his hands, and was shot with
out further warning.
A union official is reported to
have admitted hiring two men
to attack the youth.

Cantor Pinchik, who has been
internationally lauded for his
beautiful lyric tenor voice and
artistic interpretation of both
synagogue and classical music
has appeared in concerts In most
of the larger cities of Canada
and the United States as well as
the leading cities in Europe. Al
though still a newcomer to this
country, having come here from
Leningrad, he has appeared In
over ,50 concerts in New York.
Cantor Pinchik's program on
Tuesday evening will consist of
the traditional synagogue melo-
dies, concert arias in Russian,
Italian and English, and Jewish
and Hebrew folk songs.
Those wishing tickets are asked
to call the synagogue office at
Windsor 3-0652. The committee
in charge of arrangements con-
sists of J. A. Glans, chairman, L.
Siderman and J. Gelber.
