RABBI SRI HERE
FOR KOVNO SCHOOL
Rabbi Arya Leib Svei, dele-
gated as representative of the
famous Kolel Kovno by Kovno's
Rabbi Abraham Shapiro, is in De-
troit in the interest of this im-
portant school.
Rabbi Svei will address a num-1
ber of synagogues during his
stay here. Last Saturday he spoke
in the Beth Tephila Emanuel,
Taylor and Woodrow Wilson.
This Saturday, Rabbi Svei will
speak in the B'nai Israel Syna-
gogue on Linwood and in other
synagogues in that vicinity.
It is pointed out on the occa-
sion of Rabbi Svei's Detroit stay
that the Kolel Kovno is one of
the most recognized of European
schools. Rosh Yeshivas of many
theological seminaries are picked
from the graduates of this semi-
nary.
Rabbi Svei is forming a com-
mittee of rabbis and laymen to
assist him in Ma work here. Dur-
ing his Detroit stay he is stop-

J. FISII,
All Jewish youth groups of Detroit are being called upon
to participate in the Michigan Youth Congress to be held in
Ann Arbor, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 14, 15 and 16.
,Jewish youth groups not yet enlisted in the work of this
Congress are asked immediately to communicate with Miss
Marion Gilpin, secretary of the Detroit provisional committee
of the Congress, room 505, Y. W. C. A., 223 Witherell St.,
Detroit.
The importance of this Michigan Youth Congress is
evidenced by the fact that every important agency on the
University of Michigan campus and outstanding state leaders,
including Dr. Alexander G. Ruthven, president of the Uni-
versity of Michigan, have endorsed the movement. Jewish
endorsers of the Congress in Detroit are Louis II. Sobel, execu-
tive director of the Jewish Community Center; Rabbi Leon
From, director of religious education of Temple Beth El, and
Philip Slomovitz, editor of The Detroit Jewish Chronicle.
It is important that Jewish youth groups not as yet
enlisted in the movement should do so at once.
