"Morning Prayer" is the illustration chosen for September and
October for the new 5696 Sisterhood Art Calendar. The Calendar,
which is combined in book form with a daily appointment pad, con-
tains six reproductions of oil paintings, in duotone, by Lionel S. Reiss,
one of the outstanding contemporary Jewish artists.
The Committee on Union Museum of the National Federation of
Temple Sisterhoods sponsors as one of its annual projects this cal.
ender portraying the work of a leading Jewish artist. Mrs. J. Walter
Freiberg, Cincinnati, is chairman of the committee.
The calendar, which is effective as a greeting for the holidays,
has been enthusiastically received by the Sisterhood members, and
to date 5,300 calendars have been sold.

IV I E NN A. (JTA) — Dr. Saul
I Chayes has just issued his "Leal-
! con of Pseudonyms in Hebrew
and Yiddish Literature." The
, book, 'covering the period from
the Gaonic epoch in the tenth
century to the present day, con-
tains 5,145 pseudonyms in Ile-
! brew and Jewish letters.
In his work Dr. Chayes points
I out that in these two literatures
! Jews always held the work more
important than the man. There-
!fore they had the custom of re-
ferring to the name of the work
rather than that of the author.
. In some cases he deals with the
I. motives which led to the adoption
of the pseudonyms.
