JOIN SYNAGOGUE
JEWS ARE URGED

A statement recently released by

the Greater New York Committee
. on Synagogue Membership urges
Jews to join synagogues of their
choice. The statement follows:

"We, the representatives of the
Greater New York Committee, call

upon every Jew in these days of
stress and misunderstanding to

rally to the synagogue as a central
ammo- in the defense against cur-
rent anti-Semitism and the attack
upon humanitarian values. We be-
lieve we can best fortify Jewish
morale and furnish the most effec-
tive answer to misrepresentation
and prejudice by means of a vital
and constructive religious life. We
'therefore urge every Jew to enroll
in the synagogue of his choice, and
generously to support its program
of Jewish religious idealism.
Through the medium of discourses,'
study groups, literature and other
instrumentalities, and through our
emphasis upon the position of the
religiously minded Jew in American'
life, we believe that members of
congregations can inform them-
selves and others regarding the
basic causes and cure of anti-Semi-
tism, and can promote religious
comity and friendship in the gen-
eral commonwealth. We trust that
the coming High Holy Days will
find more members affiliated with
the organized synagogue than ever
before, as a testimonial of their de-
termination to translate their pro-
test against anti-Semitism and the
attack upon humanitarian values
into terms of definite and helpful
service to the Jewish faith and the
general commonwealth."

Pfeiffer Brewing Officials
Extend Rosh Hashonah
Greetings

A recent survey shows that one
of the most popular beers on the
market is Pfeiffer's Famous and
that it is in constant demand
wherever beer is sold. William
G. Breitmeyer and Alfred Epstein,
•president and vice-president of
the Pfeiffer Brewing Co.. in a
statement to The Chronicle said::
"We are naturally pleased at the
hold our product has taken on the
public.
Our records show that
while we have a fine distribution
throughout the city, it is indica- ,
lady etrong in the Jewish sections.
We are grateful for this Jewish
patronage and it is only fitting
that at this time with the approach
of Rosh Hashonah. the Jewish
N ew Year, that we pledge our-
selves to always strive to merit
your good will. We also take this
opportunity on behalf of our en-
tire organization to wish vou one
