chairman of the committee, in
opening the conference, told of
the terrible state in which Ortho-
dox Jewry finds itself at present.
Ile then explained the working .
of the Committee and outlined the
plan whereby it will attempt to
rehabilitate Jewish institutions in
America:
The plan under which we are
organized is simple and any to
explain, as follows:
"1. Every Jew in the country
is to send the sun, of $1 to the
Religinis Reconstruction Com-
mittee.
"2. The committee will make
a nation-wide survey of reli•
pious institutions throughout
the country, to find where ft.
nancial and spiritual aid is most
needed.
"3. The committee will dis•
tribute the money it receives
amongst all the needy religious
institutions of the country."
Ile pointed to the list of names
upon the committee, all men prom-
inent in civic, social and religious
life, as evidence of the honesty
and care with which the money
would be distributed.

"Be it therefore resolved that
the Religious Reconstruction
Committee has our full confid-

which these heroic m easures can

"We further pledge ourselves

mouth and precept, to urge them
to contribute to the Religious
Reconstruction Committee.
