Palestine Jewry, and behind it the Diaspora, has in the past gone through a time of testing, and it came through the orileal with fly- ing colors. But this time it is faced with a far greater proli len:, a more burning purpose, than the normal extension of its undo- taking; it must now deal with the problem of German Jewry—and immediacy is a factor in the sit- uation. To those of us who live in Pal- estine, and have done so since the early days of the British occupa- tion—before even the Mandate was formally granted to Great Britain, each paSsing day sharpens the realization that, above all, the work must go on; and it is going on. Palestine Jewry is contribut- ing increasingly to the Jewish Na- tional Fund, to the Keren Ilaye- sod, and to the other permanent and emergency funds. A total of il2,000 was raised for German- Jewish relief, and the plans worked out by the Joint Commit- tee set up by representatives of all institutions and elements of the Yishub have been mainly con- structive. Now comes the news that our neighboring Jewries are not to be left behind in the de- termined bid for a greater Home- land. Alexandria Jewry has con- tributed £15,000 for the establish- ment of a German-Jewish settle- ment on J. N.
