Colonel Raymond Robins, who
was in Russia in 1917 during the
"ten days that shook the world"
and who won the confidence of
Lenin, Trotsky and other Soviet
leaders as no other foreigner did,
will lecture before the Detroit
Town Hall Series at the Wilson
Theater, Wednesday morning, Jan.
24, at 11 o'clock. Col. Robins,
who visited Russia last summer
for the first time since the war,
will speak on "Russia After 15
Years.'
At the outbreak of the Russian
Revolution in 1917, Col. Robins
was stationed in Petrograd as com-
missioner in command of the
American Red Cross in Russia.
With the fall of the old regime he
became unofficial representative of
the United States in dealing with
the Soviet Republic.
Last summer, on his second stay
in Russia, Col. Robins was greeted
by hie wartime friends and the
doom usually barred against the
foreigner were open to him. He
had an interview of an hour and
a half with Joseph Stalin, now
virtual dictator of Russia. This
was the first interview Stalin had
granted a foreigner for two years
Col. Robins studied not only the i
great cities of Leningrad and
Moscow, but traveled also through
the industrial and agricultural
centers.
