In our issue of last week we reproduced
from the Dublin Itevigw, the well-known Catho-
lic qurterly, two letters of protest against the
repetition in its columns, in the course of an
article by Ilrofessor Walsh, of the ghastly
ritual murder slander. We also reprinted the
Editorial Note which accompanied these letters,
and in which the Editor associated himself with
the views of his correspondents. We welcome
the outspoken repudiation by the two Catholic
scholars, who sign the lett• -, of the foul in-

"The Play-Way to Hebrew."
Elsewhere on this page illIp011.1'S a 1'0-
View of "Gilenu—The Play -Way to He
brew'," the latest and one of the most in-
teresting publications of the Cnion of
American Hebrew Congregations.
In this volume we have a definite con-
tribution to the methods for teaching lb ,
brew. Two eminent educators—Abraham
H. Friedland of Cleveland and Emanuel
Gamoran of Cincinnati—have joined their
hy
efforts in producing this V011.1111e
means of it story in words, and pictures,
aids the child in learning Hebrew not
through the pressure of a school room, but
by causing the boy and girl to love the
language.
There are numerous advantages in the
teaching of Hebrew by moans of this "play-
way" proposed by these two authors. This
volume's most important asset is that it
can be used in the home, and that the
mother and father can utilize it for the
teaching of elementary Hebrew to the
child.
The Union of American Hebrew Con-
gregations is to be congratulated for pub-
lishing such worth-while teaching material.
It is worth noting in this connection that the
Union recently made possible the circula-
tion of a Hebrew movable alphabet made I
of wood and intended for children to play
with as toys. This alphabet, patented by
Benjamin Delegator of Cincinnati, w:as a
new method devised by means of which
children 11111Y be helped in learning to read '
and speak Hebrew. This alphabet, used li
together With the book "Gilenu," makes
an excellent combination for introducing
the child to the Hebrew language.
"Gilenu—The Play-Way to Hebrew," is
dedicated by the authors to their chil-
dren — "Akibah, li.111111/ 1111(1 iIhlel, who
speak Hebrew and love it." "Gilenu" sug-
gests one of the methods by NVIliCh the av-
erage parent can teach the average child
the language of our people, and to cause
the child to love this language.

A Fine Boost for a Jurist.
"When You Have Good 7'1 VII, Keep
Them" is the title of an editorial in the •
Detroit News, in which Judge Charles
Rubiner is 011e Of IWO jurists who are highly
lauded as being highly qualified and as
deserving of re-election.
This endorsement of it Jewish jurist who
is at the same time an outstanding figure in
the Detroit Jewish community is a source
of deep satisfaction. Jews have estab-
1ished a fine record for public service in
this country, and it is gratifying to know
that one of the youngest men on the bench
is following in the footsteps of other out-
standing Jews who hart' been responsible
for an increase of respect for Jewry. Cer-
tainly Judge 'Milner has proven that he
is worthy of the position he holds, and he
deserves to be re-elected.

all, of their responsibility to truth, to learning
or the crying necessities of a world already
sufficiently disordered and disturbed.
One might surely have supposed that cul-

moles, and that the knowledge of what has

past 12 Months, would have warned them

two of them have not done so, and that the

That the persistent repetition of the old slan-

But whether all is being done that should be
