house Humming.

In further emulation of the ex-

Hebrew Association, through an
inter-club representative congress,
called the House Council, contri-
buted $50 to the Detroit Commun-
ity Fund.
A new activity of the "Y" this
season, conducted in conjunction
with the National Council of Jew-
ish Women, is the social club and
lip reading class which is held on
Wednesday evenings at 8 o'clock.
This group is open to both young
men and women who wish instrae-
tion in lip-reading and who wish
to widen their social contacts.
An Armistice party for mem-
bers of the "Y" will be held at the
clubhouse, Saturday evening, Nov.
12. The Armistice dance on Sun-
day, Nov. 13, will be open to the
public.
Try-outs are now being held for a
musical comedy to be produced by
the "Y" in December. The pro-
duction is to be under the direction
of Misa Sarah Hillel, recreation
worker of the "Y."
Two athletic leagues, one for
boys and one for girls, are now
being organized from among "Y"
club. The girls' basketball teams
will hold weekly practice at the
Temple Beth EI gymnasium on
Tuesday evenings. The first meet-
ing of representatives to the boys'
league will be held at the "Y" on
Sunday, Nov. 13, at 3:30 p. m.
Golf instruction will be offered
every Wednesday evening to young
men and women in a class that
meets at the Grandwood Indoor
Golf School. Individual and group
instruction will be given by a pro-
fessional teacher. Registrations
for this class must be made at the
clubhouse.
The Chess Club, which meets on
Monday evenings at 8 o'clock, has
begun regular sessions under the
sponsorship of Sol Levin. This
club in making plans for competi-
tive events to he held later in the
season. All who wish to play chess
or to learn to play chess are invited
to attend the next meeting on Mon-
day, Nov. 14.
The child-study classes, held on
Monday evenings and on Wednes-
day afternoos, under the direction
of Mrs. E. Monteith, include a study
of the latest approved psychologi-
cal methods of training children
