stretch of time that it is impossible
to imagine its beginning. Yet, no
matter how much we may value the
exactness and the caution of the
scientists, we shall always find it
is a beautiful thing to celebrate this
imaginary birthday of the universe.
As long as life shall be sweet and
all the world lovely, we shall feel
the urge in some way to celebrate
the birthday of light and life and
love and beauty. We satisfy this
urge on Rosh Ilashonah by making
