"WALTZ PARADISE" AT
THE LITTLE THEATER

Paramount and Riviera The-
tres Feature "Blondie
of the Follies."

Headed by a huge cast, "Blondie
of the Follies" is the attraction
now playing at the Paramount and
Riviera Theaters. Marion Davies,
Robert Montgomery, Billie Dove,
"Schnozzle" Durante, Zasu Pitts
and James Gleason head the cast
which tells of the life and loves
of a "Follies" girl. How she rises
from the tenements of the East
Side to a place in the famous show
and how she wins a wealthy hus-
band like other "Follies" girls be-
fore her. The picture is packed
with suspense, action, romance
and thrills and is one of the big
picture hits of the year.

Michigan Theater.

Ben Bernie, the "old maestro,"
with all his lads and attractions,
is the headliner on the Michigan
stage this week. Yaussar, the old
colonel, the pride of radio, is mak-
ing his first Detroit stage appear-
ance in several years, and along
with his famous orchestra he has
Pat Kennedy, the famous Irish
tenor, the German Quartette for
harmony, and Frank Prince, singer
of popular ballads.
On the screen is one of Para-
mount's new season pictures, "The
Night of June 13th," a mystery
drama which boasts of one of the
finest casts ever assembled for
one picture.

United Artists Theater.

"Grand Hotel" is at the United
Artists theater. This is the first
time that this picture has been
shown at popular regular United
Artists prices. The film is being
shown exactly as it was run at
the Wilson theater several months
ago.
The picture, made from Vicki
Baum's best seller of the same
name, has assembled in the lead-
ing roles the greatest cast ever
seen in a single film. The mem-
bers of the cast include Greta
Garbo, John Barrymore, Joan
Crawford, Lionel Barrymore, Wal-
lace Beery, Lewis Stone, Jean Her.
sholt and a host of others.

NOTICE TO ATTORNEYS

"Walzer Parodies" (Waltz Para-
dise") is the current German talk-
ing picture at the Little Cinema
Detroit Public Schools Eve- Theater
at 56 East Columbia.
ning School Department.
Charlotte Susa is the lady in the
lead and. Grell Theimer of "Two
Detroit public evening schools Hearts" fame comes a close second,
ended registration week with an
enrollment of approximately 8,000
men and women, a figure which
is only 60 per cent of the regis-
tration week total for last year.
Registrations continued during the
week of Sept. 19 in all schools.
After that period all credit classes,
and many others, including even
the elementary classes, may be
closed to further registrations.
The final enrollment is expected
to be about one-third short of the
maximum of 23,000 reached last
year in the fall term. This loss
is due, of course, to the economic
situation, which bears heavily on
the sections of the population that
ordinarily patronize the evening
high schools, where a fee of $3
per subject is required. The ele-
mentary classes, which are free,
are rapidly approaching last year's
size.

Lena Mertens, the most popular

infatuated with Schani, a young
coalman, whom she discovers at the
restaurant "Waltz Paradise." Due
to her interest, Schani soon climbs
the ladder of social and operatic
fame, for he has a beautiful tenor,
even breaks the hank at Monte
Carlo, buys the palace of Count
Pres, one of Lona's admirers, and
the young count becomes his secre-

anxious to get the family property
back and having made an unsuc-
cessful offer to Schani, begins an
intrigue with Marie, Schani's old
sweetheart. Lena hears about it
knows Schani still loves Marie and
arranged for the two sweethearts
to meet. This proves to her Schani
is still in love with Marie and she,
therefore, decides to sign a con-
tract to sing in America and leave
Schani and Marie together. Grieved
at having lost Lona's friendship
and having quarreled with Marie,
Schani goes on a drinking bout,
soon loses all his wealth, his pal-

he becomes reconciled to Marie and
starts in all over again, is wel-
