William IL Campbell, a Repub-
lican candidate for renomination
and re-election to the State Ilouse
of Representatives, is a member
notable for his efforts in the gen-
eral public interest.
Mr. Campbell began to work in
1927 for safer limitations on
bonds eligible for bank invest-
ments. If he could have had his
way then, it is safe to say that
fewer state banks would have
been forced to close by the depre-
ciation of their bond accounts.
Mr. Campbell began to work in
1929 for the return to the coun-
ties of all the weight tax, offered
it in 1931 as a concrete proposal
to the governor, and saw it finally
enacted in the special session of
1932. That law will cut the com-
ing winter tax in Wayne County
$3,900,000. Of that sum $3,600-
000 will apply to Detroit tax-
payers. There will be no county
road tax in 1933, and no more
tax than before on the car. That
is the first real tax cut in many
years.
Mr. Campbell has served four
terms in the House, latterly as a
member of the important Ways
and Means committee. He brings
to his duties long experience,,
much study, and swerving devo-
tion to the general public interest.
Galvani Vocal Studios Re
open at 729 Pingree Avenue.
—
Maestro George Galvani, De-
troit's outstanding baritone and
vocal teacher, who has recently
returned from a two months' vaca-
tion on the Atlantic coast in
Maine, is now resuming his mu-
sical activities in the city. The
forthcoming season will indeed be
a busy one for Mr. Galvani. Aside
from conducting classes regularly
in vocal instruction and coaching,
Mr. Galvani continues as soloist
sod musical director at Temple
Beth El, conducting all musical
services including the training and
directing of Temple Beth El choir.
In addition to that Mr. Galvani is
engaged for numerous appear-
ances in concert, oratorio and over
the radio, both in and out of town.
He also retans the drectorship of
the choral group in the Music
Study Club and makes a trip to
Jackson, Mich., one day a week
to conduct a class of pupils in
voice training.
The enrollment of pupils for
the season of 1932-33 for both
individual and class instruction is
now in course. Call Trinity
2-6998 for interview.
