THE LEGAL PROFESSION - Always considered a noble pro- fession, the practice of law is in I an even more important position . today than at any previous time in history. This is a fact which must be apparent to all. since the affairs and activities of mankind are more ' fully dealt with today than in for- met. days. Rights, duties, privi- leges, responsibilities, are either I restricted or enlarged upon by new laws constantly. The proper, ac- curate and true interpretation of these laws requires sound and just 'consideration and determination from members of the Bar. Beyond all question of doubt, the vast majority of those persons honored with the privilege of mem- bership in the legal profession do discharge their responsibilities faithfully and honorably to the eat benefit of their fellow beings. ccasionally and in very few in- stances someone steps to the way- , side and joins in a shady transac- , tion induced by the glamor of an unusual fee or aids criminals at- tracted by their ill-gotten wealth. Because of such the legal profes- sion should not bee considered to have failed the. remaing members of the Bar should not be held to account for their unwise brothers, an entire class should not be con- demned because of a few. , Such are the frailities of man, however, that when a few do wrong all are attacked. There is no rea- son why the good and honorable and respected title to lawyer should be besmirched by such appellations as "shyster" or "crooked " lawyer, casting insinuations and reflections against all attorneys. The public should have confidence in attorneys and should always feel that their Interests are protected to the best ability of the individual handling their affairs. In view of the discussion on this subject often heard informally be- tween attorneys, in the Courts and elsewhere.
