DETROIT, MICHIGAN, FRIDAY, APRIL 29, 1932

Registration at
Hebrew Schools

This is the beginning of the
new semester and children are
now accepted for registration
at all branches of the United
Hebrew Schools. New classes
are being organized for begin-
ners, for semi-beginners, and
for children of the Bar Mitzvah
age. This registration period
will last only 10 days and the
public is asked to attend to the
enrollment of children im-
mediately. It is with great
difficulty that the schools are
able to accommodate a child
during the middle of a semes-
ter. The enrollment of a new
student in the middle of a se-
mester upsets the work of the
class and the child is rarely
well adjusted. To avoid this
maladjustment, parents are
urged to enter their children
now, at the mid-semester regis-
tration period.

Russia Confiscates
Two Carloads Matzos

MOSCOW.— (J. T. A.) —
Two carloads of matzos were
confiscated by the Soviet au-
thorities when they entered the
city.
The excuse given for this act
is that allegedly it has not bevel
proved where the flour used for
baking the matzos came from.
Despite the intensive anti-re-
ligious campaign which reached
its climax this week, the syna-
gogues were overcrowded with
worshippers.
Anti-religious meetings were
held in factories and plants em-
ploying a considerable number
of Jewish workers and artisans
and clubs for Jewish house-
wives.
The speakers condemned
Jewish clergymen as counter-
revolutionists and intervention-
ists. Observers of the Passover
holiday were charged with be-
ing disturbers of the five-year
plan.
The Jewish youth attended
the anti•religious meetings and
some managed to attend both
meeting and service.
