Very few episodes in the romantic history of the Jew-

BERLIN.—(J. T. A.)—There
is a feeling of relief among Jews
throughout Germany as a result of
Sunday's run-off elections in which
President Paul von Hindenburg
was re-elected by a vote of 19,359,
642, gaining a majority of more
than 6,000,000 over the next can-
didate, Adolph Hitler, who re-
ceived 13,417,460 votes.
Jewish leaders believe that the
Ilitlerites will now resume their
active anti-Jewish campaign but
at the same time are hopeful that
the government will no longer
hesitate to take stringent meas-
ures to curb these activities. It
is generally believed that an effort
will be made to restrict the Nazi
storm brigades and perhaps to sup-
press them altogether.
In local Jewish circles, Sun-
day's vote is taken as an indica-
tion that - Hitler will probably ex-
perience great difficulty in organ-
izing any sort of a coalition no
matter what the results of the
elections on April 24 should be.
Great surprise has been created
by the revelation that former
Kaiser Wilhelm has contributed
more than a half-million marks in
cash toward the election campaign
of Hitler. This revelation is
made by the radical publication,
Welt Am Montag, which relates at
the same time that the interna-
tional magnate, Sir Henry Deterd-
ing, allegedly promised IIitler
£1,000,000 for a complete monop-
oly of Germany's oil resources in
the event of his coming into
power.
