Noted Actor is Starring in Sackler's Play; Present Five Four One-Act Plays to Be
Staged Next Tuesday
Performances His Farewell to Detroit.
Evening.

Following the idyllic comedy,
"Green Fields," displayed at Litt-
man's Yiddish People's 'Theater
last week-end, Jacob Ben-Ami ap-
pears in an entirely new role this
Friday evening. These perform.
ances over the week-end at the
Yiddish playhouse being in the na-
ture of a farewell appearance,
Ben-Ami will shed his Talmudic
garb of last week and appear in
the swanky habiliments of a for-
ester. "Yiskor," the romantic
drama from the pen of Ii. Sackler,
will be the offering, and instead
of a pale, anaemic student of the
Torah, which Ben-Ami displayed
last week, this genial artist will
appear in swaggering role of ■
young hunter and warrior. Sack-
ler is one of the younger play-
wrights, who delved deed into
folk-lore. His dramatization of
several Jewish legends is regarded
as a genuine contribution to dra-
matic literature. Ben-Ami has
never appeared in this interesting
play in Detroit and his numerous
admirers may look forward to a
great dramatic treat.
To those accustomed to the
typical stage Jew, this play will
come in the nature of a grand
surprise. The writer recalls an
evening in New York, some 10
years ago. Ben-Ami, who had
closed a long and successful run
in his first version in English, that
of "Samson and Delilah," was do-
ing his second play in-that medium.
The play was the interesting folk
