DEAR BOYS AND GIRLS:
Today being Lincoln's Birthday, we shall make a holiday of i
and discuss the Great Eniancipator in this column. From the poem s
and essays I am going to print for you you will see that the Hebrew
Bible had a great influence upon Abraham Lincoln, who freed the
slaves.
Next week we shall devote to a discussion of the Father of Out
Country, George Washington, whose birthday, as you all know, is
observed on Feb. 22. This year marks the two hundredth anniversary
of the birth of the first president of the United States, and we, in our
own column, will observe this holiday occasion together with the
entire country.
I shall be glad to hear from my nieces and nephews who would
like to write something about George Washington.
