DEAR BOYS AND GIRLS:
I didn't know, when I started the di,cussion of books, that
of you would actually take a great interest in it. I was very happy
to learn that some of my readers, and many parents, are tanking an
interest in this subject and are anxious to be guided in reading good
books.
Mr. Bernard Isaacs, superintendent of the United Hebrew Schools
of Detroit, whom most of you no doubt know and who is so Inter-
ested in the
education of all of you, was especially kind in
offering suggestions about Jewish books suitable for you boys and
girls. Mr. Isaacs agrees with me that there are too few good Jewish
books for younger readers, and that is why he was so happy with
the publication of a very good book: "Amnon: A Lail of Palestine."
I Marian King who has been to Palestine anti who knows Hebrew , has
written this charming story, about which I am going to tell you a
great deal further in this column.
Now, you must let me hear from you very often, and tell me
whether you have read the books I suggested. You must all try to
secure a copy of "Amnon" and read it. You will surely enjoy it
anti at the same time learn something. If I can offer you suggestions
on what to read, just ask me.
Now let us proceed with our weekly habit of relating a story,
reciting a poem and learning some history.
YOUR UNCLE JUDAII.
