Mr. Kohler kept in constant touch wih Theodore Levin, who headed the legal forces, and just before the brief was presented he spent two days in Detroit going over de- tails with him. Other attorneys in the case were former Judge Patrick II. O'Brien, Fred M. Butzel and Nathan L. Mil- stein. Mr. Kohler was born in Detroit on May 22, 1871, son of the late Dr. Kaufman Kohler, who was at the time, rabbi of Temple Beth El. He is a former assistant United States district attorney, is the au- thor of a number of volumes and is an authority on immigration and alien registration matters.
