A Siyum Torah (celebration in
honor of the completion of a chap-
ter of the Law) and a Chanukah
party are events planned for this
week-end by Young Israel of De-
troit.
The Siyum was to be held this
Friday night at the synagogue on
Alger and Oakland avenue, where
the Talmud study class has been
meeting every Friday night. This
class, formed with the aid of Rabbi
Ezekiel Aishishkin, is led by Isaac
Levine. An interesting program
has been arranged for this occa-
sion.

Congregation Beth Jehudah, on

nual Chanukah party on Saturday
evening, Dec. 5. Jacob Isbee heads
the party committee. Ile is assisted
by Diana Cooper, Louis Wolok,
Sylvia Derovan and l'earl Gold-
man. The singing of Chanukah
songs, the lighting of the candles
and dancing will mark the eve-
ning's festivities.

Plans for the three-day conven-
tion of Young Israel branches of
the middle west, which is being
sponsored by the Detroit chapter
of the organiaztion, are rapidly
nearing completion, according to
an announcement by the general
supervisory committee. Executive

been entrusted to Meyer Weisen-
fold, Abraham J. Rosenshine and
David I. Berris.
The convention will be held Dec.
20-29.
Its prime purpose is to
establish closer relations between
branches in this part of the country.
