BERLIN.—(J. T. A.)—The riil
&callous lengths to which the Hit-
kites leaders are prepared to go in
arousing the German populace
against the Jews was again demon-
strated when M. Ley, a Nazi mem-
ber of the Reichstag, told a Hit- I
mass meeting at Cologne that
Jews use Christian blood not only
for ritual purpose but els') for their
own racial preservation."
In formulating his highly incit-
ing and new "theory," Deputy Ley
divided the Jews into three cate-
gories, "economic parasites, vam-
pires and attackers of Christian
women." Expounding on the second
category, the Nazi agitator alleged
that the "unharmonious and chao-
tic blood of the Jewish racae
obliges the Jews to drink blood of
other races in order to continue
their own race."
Nazi Organs Reappear.
The Angriff, Berlin organ of the
Ilitlerites, and the Voelkischer
Beobachter, of Munich, the chief
Hitlerite paper, appeared again
when their suspension was lifted.
Both papers publish an appeal to
their readers to destroy the "Jew-
ish papers" and support the Nazi
press.
Despite repeated pleas of the
Nazi papers for support from their
followers most of the Hitlerite or.
guns have recently suffered a de-
cline in circulation. According to
a survey by the Central Associa-
tion of German Citizens of Jewish
Faith, the Angriff has dropped
from a peak of 80,000 last fall to
about 45,000 now. The Berlin edi-
tion of the Voelkischer Beobachter,
which never had more than 5,000
readers, now has less than 2,000
circulation.
The provincial Nazi papers are
also suffering regular losses in cir-
culation. "Workers, Peasants a nd
Soldiers," the organ of the Stennis
wing of the Ilitlerites, has no w
reached a circulation of 30,000.
This paper represents the Nazi fac-
tion that broke away from Hitler
early this year when Stennes and
Hitler clashed over the dissilution
of the storm squads.
Sacrifices Fortune to Save Bank.
Behind the prosaic announcement
in the Berlin newspapers that $8,-
750,000 worth of shares in the
closed Darmstaedter and National
Bank have been ceded "by a person
closely connected with this bank"
and have been purchased by a syn-
dicate of German industrialists for
$10,750,000, which is being ad-
vanced to the government to enable
the reopening of the closed German
bank, lies one of the most stirring
tales in the history of modern Ger-
man banking.

—An excess of 10,237 aliens
leaving the United States over
those entering the country for
the fiscal year ending June 30,
which marks a turning point in
American immigration history,
is reported by the bureau of im-

Labor. A total of 97,139 ar-

the smallest since 1844 and in-

Of the aliens who left the

Palestine Orange Groves
Insured for First Time

JERUSALEM.—(J. T. A.)—
Following considerable negoti-
ating the Sun Insurance Office,
Ltd., Alliance Insurance Co.,
Lt., anti the Peace Insurance
Co., I.td., three of the largest
British insurance companies,
have agreed to establish a uni-
ted insurance scheme for the
orange groves of l'alestine.
The need for insuring the
orange groves against natural
disasters has long been felt but
the British companies have not
been ready to become interest-
ed in this undertaking which in-
volves no many risks and such
great financial responsibility.
The companies were persuad-
ed to agree to accept insurance
on the orange groves when the
progress of l'alestine was placed
before them in concrete form.
The insurance plan is only an
experiment and whether it is
placed on a permanent basis de-
pends on the orange-growers
themselves. The insurance plan
covers floods, storms, gales, and
catastrophes caused by human
agencies such as violence and
strikes. If this plan works
other forms of insurance will
be included.
