ceived a letter from Mme. Alla
Moszkowski, the Kansas pianist,
alleged daughter of the late com-
poser, Moritz Moszkowski, who,
the Einsteins alleged, had imposed
upon them while they were in
California. Madame Moszkowski's
letter threatened the Einsteins
with a libel suit unless they re-
tracted their allegations. The let-
ter also contained many details of
Madame Moszkowski's alleged re-

Einsteins, however, maintain their
previous stand.
The Jewish Telegraphic Agency
correspondent later interviewed
Richard Moszkowski, a nephew of
the great composer, who declared
that Madame Moszkowski was
either "an impostor or insane,"
because Moritz Moszkowski had
only one son and one daughter.
The son now lives in Paris and
the daughter died some years ago.
Richard Moszkowski said that
Madame Moszkowski's knowledge
of the Moszkowski family is pos-
sibly explained by the fact that she
might have been a pupil of Moritz
