To Wear

Pleads for Change for Jew-
ish Agency; Asks Sup-
port for Leaders.

Robert Szold, chairman of the
administration of the Zionist Or-
ganization of America, in a plea
for support of the administration
made at a meeting of men and wom-
en Zionists at Hotel Statler Wed-
nesday night, urged Jews to retain
their faith in the movement. The'.
meeting, attended by about 400,
was arranged by Hadassah and the
Zionist District. Simon Shetzer,
District president, was chairman.
Greetings were extended by Mrs.
Harry L. Jackson, newly-elected
Hadassah president, in the name of
her organization. Nine-year-old
Blossom Rovetch, pupil of Bendet.
son Netzorg school, played three
selections on the piano.
Mr. Szold pleaded that a chance
be given to the Jewish Agency, and
declared rumors which question the
effect of unity in Zionist and non-
Zionist ranks. Ile said that he has
faith that all difficulties will be
overcome.
Mr. Szold devoted the major part
of his address to a discussion of
the economic possibilities in Pales-
tine and to the importance of Amer-
ican Jews devoting themselves to
the economic development of the
Jewish National Home. He severe-
ly attacked the report of Sir John
Hope Simpson and pointed to many
serious misrepresentations in it,
"Palestine must be built on an
economic basis," Mr. Szold said.
"The Jewish Agency should con-
centrate on sound economic pro-
cesses and should resolve itself in-
to a board for economic develop-
ment, free from political matters."
