Holiday Greetings to All

Editor, Detroit Jewish Chronicle:
Gentlemen:
It was encouraging to me to see
the noble stand taken by your pa-
per in connection with the position
s of the members of Congress from
, the City of Detroit with reference
1 to the present immigration policy
of Congress.
If our colleagues would Sake the
sensible view which I have all along
advocated with reference to the
proper interpretation of the immi-
gration policy of our Government,
there would be no need for any
radical measures to prevent futile
legislation by filibuster and other
manners which your article so ably
describes.
It was shocking to me as well as
others that men like McLeod and
Clancy and others have supported
this measure not knowing what the
disaster would be if it were passed
and made into law. Much as I have
the highest regard for Messrs. Mc-
Leod and Clancy, I confess they
did not know what they voted for
and not only should they account
for their votes but their constitu-
ents should ask them something
about their actions on this ques-
tion.
If they would have read the Mi-
nority Views not only by myself
but four other members who din-,
sented from the Johnson Report,
they would not have--as reason-
able men—supported thsi legisla-
thin.
Now, do you realize the hard-
ships that I ant up against when
men from such communities and

A remarkable piece of Jewish
land reclamation work in Palestine
has recently been completed by
the Jewish National Fund on its
Haifa Bay lands. The above pic-
ture shows a group of distin-
guished Palestinian citizens stand-
ing on the bank of a newly dug
canal in the vicinity of Haifa, the
future great port city of Pales-
tine.
The ground on which the group
is standing has not been terra
firma until it was drained and re-
claimed from the swamps which
covered it for centuries. Engi-
