a brief illness. Funeral
services were held Monday, from
his late residence, 3005 Chicago
boulevard. Burial was in Clover
Hill Park Cemetery. Rabbi A. M .
Hershman officiated,
Mr. Blumenthal, who was presi-
dent of the Consumer', Paper Com-
pany, was born in Lithuania and
came to Detroit with his parent,
when he was 8 years old. During
his long business career he served
sa proprietor of the Globe Paper
company, a part owner of the Globe
House Furnishing company, a di-
rector of the Central Savings hank
and owner of the r American Ma-
chine Manufacturing company.
Ile was an active member of the
congregation of Shaarey Zedek,
serving as a director and fur three
years as secretary. Surviving him
are his widow, Gohla K.; a son,
Joseph H.; a brother, David, and a
sister, Mrs. Rae Scheinman, of Los
Angeles.
Mr. Blumenthal was esteemed in
the community for his scholarship
and his devotion to Jewish inter-
ests. Ile posmessed one of the ,
finest private libraries in Detroit,
and his tonic was a gathering
place for the intellectuals of the
city.

wife, Fannie; two daughters, Mrs.
Harry Rothschild of St. l'aul.
