Hershman in an address to the stu- dents of the senior classes of the. Sunday School of the Shaarey Zetlek Congregation last Sunday morning. Rabbi Hershman dis- cussed the part that the Bible played in influencing the abolition- ist movement during the Civil War. Ile showed that the abo- litionists were greatly influenced by the Biblical commandment that a slave, having escaped, should not be returned to his master. Rabbi Hershman also told I if many in- stances which illustrate the extent to which Abraham Lincoln was guided by the Bible. Another feature of the program was the singing of a comical song which told the story of Purim by little Cecelia Smith of the seventh grade.
